Tarot ethics

A reading is not a verdict, not a medical opinion, and not a way to spy.

The cards are paper or pixels. The harm is usually in the sentence a reader adds. “They are cheating,” “you are cursed,” “do not take the medication,” “have the baby,” “leave tonight with me” — these are not in the deck. They are in the reader. Do not be that reader, including toward yourself at 1 a.m.

Rules

  • Read for another adult only at their request, about a question they chose.
  • Do not read a third person in order to manage them. That includes an ex, a crush, and a coworker.
  • Do not predict death, pregnancy, or disease. If a card scares you in that direction, name the fear as yours and suggest ordinary support if something real is going on.
  • Minors: do not do fortune-telling for children. A family story-game with a parent’s knowledge is a different thing and still should not produce omens.
  • Money: this site charges nothing. If you someday read for pay, say you are offering reflection, not a guarantee, and do not create dependence.
  • You may decline a question. “I won’t read that” is a complete sentence.
