Worship

Discreet, accessible, and low-cost practice

A locked bathroom, a silent gesture, and a practice that does not require a shop.

Splendour is a style, not a moral good. If being seen would cost you housing, safety, or peace, your practice should be invisible. Invisibility is a skill. It is not a lack of devotion.

Discreet substitutions

Instead of the photograph
Visible itemQuiet version
Altar trayA book you actually read, with one pebble as a bookmark that only you understand.
CandleA lamp you already use, switched on with intention, or no light at all.
IncenseNothing. Scent travels and incriminates. A breath is the incense.
Spoken prayerWords mouthed, or written in a notes app you can delete, or thought while washing a cup.
Robes and jewelryOne stitch of red thread inside a hem, or nothing.
Tarot deckA page of this site read on a phone under the covers, or playing cards used with the tarot correspondences you have studied. A deck is a tool, not a membership card.

Bodies that need a different choreography

If you cannot stand, sit. If you cannot sit long, lie down and do the words. If chronic pain makes “feel your feet” a cruel instruction, feel whatever is available — hands, jaw, the weight of a blanket — or skip body cues entirely. If you are d/Deaf or hard of hearing, nothing important on this site depends on a bell. If you are blind or low-vision, the rites are written as steps you can hear with a screen reader; the photographs are atmosphere, not instructions.

Money

You can practice for a year with tap water, paper, and a library card. Crystals and dried herbs are optional. If a working lists a resin you cannot afford, use the substitution on that page. Stealing from a shop is not a folk tradition we are reviving.

A complete silent rite

Three minutes, no objects

  1. 1Wash your hands.
  2. 2Look out a window or at a blank wall.
  3. 3Think the sentence: “I am in my life, and my life is allowed.”
  4. 4Name, silently, one act of care you will do before sleep.
  5. 5Dry your hands. You are done.
