What you can spend
Second House
The second house symbolizes livelihood, possessions, and what you treat as yours, not a price tag on your worth.

Themes
The second house is the field of movable resources: money you can spend, tools, wages, the pantry, the skills that reliably become bread. Traditional authors speak of substance and of what supports the body. Modern readers add self-value, which is useful only if it does not float free of rent. A resource is a relationship to the material world, not a spiritual grade.
House systems differ, so a planet near the edge of this house in one method may fall in the first or the third in another. Read the system your chart names. The themes can still be thought about without a chart: what you rely on, what you hoard, what you call mine.
What this house is not
It is not a promise of wealth, and it is not a verdict of poverty. It does not price your moral worth or your attractiveness. A difficult symbol here is not an instruction to be ashamed of a thin bank account, and a cheerful one is not permission to ignore how money is made. Stolen ease is not a second-house blessing.
It is also not identical to the eighth house, which takes up other people's resources and shared debts. Confusing them leads to vague talk about 'money wounds' with no ledger. If the question is a bill, open the bill. The house will not pay it.
Reflective use
Use the second house to tell the truth about support. List what actually keeps your life going, including unpaid labor you or someone else contributes. Ask whether your spending matches the life you claim to respect. Then change one concrete flow: a subscription, a price you charge, a tool you maintain, a debt you acknowledge.
The traditional joy of this house is none. Emptiness in that old list is not a curse. It means the scheme of planetary joys assigned its mascots elsewhere. You do not need a mascot to learn your own budget.

The supporting list
- 1Write what materially supported you in the last month, including help you did not pay for.
- 2Write what you spent in order to look fine rather than to live.
- 3Choose one flow to change by a specific amount or a specific habit.
- 4Tell the person affected if the change touches their labor, and do the change.
Questions
- What am I calling mine that is actually shared or unpaid?
- Where does scarcity talk louder than the actual numbers?
- What resource would I respect more if I maintained it?
